There’s a truism in sales, and it’s about building connections with your partners in ways that transcend business. All other things being equal, people like doing business with people they like. Recently, our friends at the National Guard Association of the United States heard about my about my biker days and asked for photos.
Because I’m proud of those biker days and because I’m not one to forego building a stronger connection with our partners, I was more than happy to send along a few pics. And when I did, I included this note.
“So, my friends and partners at NGAUS: You who dress up in your camo uniforms and look absolutely, stunningly irresistible to us gals—well, we gals have a counterpart: We dress up in our leather jackets, add a leather hat, or better still a helmet, jump on our Harleys and off we roar. We trust you are, in return, drawn to us as well!

Here’s some proof: In the photos included here, I’m dressed for the ride on my Harley Davidson Fatboy, one of their best models, bright blue, a whole lot of engine noise. Perfecto!
If you’d like to jump on behind me and hold on tight, we could go for a “Ride or Die.” (But all things considered, you might be in realistic fear for your life. LOL.) Or if you know how, you can drive, and I’ll ride on the back in honor of the Ride or Die movement of today’s Gen Z’ers.
Perhaps you didn’t know this, but Ride or Die was biker slang starting in the 1950s’s and meant “extreme unwavering loyalty.” It has since evolved in a cultural shift to mean something similar but a bit different: “We’d do anything for; loyalty and dedication; there for each other.”
And interestingly enough, this sentiment applies perfectly to the partnership relationship we share with NGAUS!
Vroom vroom!”
